Description Technical Specs

The Eberlestock Blue Widow JP9 might very well be the Ultimate backcountry bowhunters pack.  Versatility, lightweight, tough, daypack, meat hauler, waterproof; these are all accurate descriptions of the Eberlestock Blue Widow.  Like the rest of Eberlestock’s Just one series of packs the Blue Widow is designed to transform from daypack to multiday backcountry pack to meat hauler.

The heart of any pack is it’s suspension and frame.  The Blue Widow is no slouch here, with a fully adjustable shoulder harness the torso length can be fit exactly to your back.  The packs frame is also adjustable to fit your back exactly.  All you have to do is remove the two aluminum stays that make up the frame and bend them to the contours of your pack for a completely custom fit.  The oversized hip belt and lumbar pad is designed to transfer the weight of the pack onto your hips and keep it off your shoulders.  If all that isn't enough Eberlestock also makes small and Xl hip belts and shoulder harnesses.  (check out the pack fitting video I did with Eberlestock)

The main body of the pack consists of two large tubular pockets that run vertically.  This is a different feature than most other packs that have one large compartment.  The idea behind this is to separate your gear so that things are easier to find and it keeps your gear from falling to the bottom of the pack.  The lid of the pack has a built in removable fanny pack that you can take off for an ultralight option if want it to.

The JP9 Blue Widow has the ability to carry three hydration bladders, two on the inside of the pack and one in the removable fanny pack if needed.

With a multitude of webbing and lashing points you can attach Eberlestock’s entire accessory line from the 4 different accessory pouches to the Butt bucket designed to carry your bow.   The Zip in panel is a great accessory if you are looking to expand the pack and us it as a multi-day backcountry pack as well as the Super spike and spike duffel.  Each of which will add anywhere from 2200 to 2700 cubic inches to the packs capacity.

Waterproof fabric and bullet proof zippers add to the packs features as well.

For a more detailed description and look at the pack watch the video above that I did.

Awesome pack March 2, 2012
Reviewer: Landon Faulkner from Huntington Beach, CA United States
This pack is just about exactly what I needed for my multiday backcountry hunts. I got the spike duffel to hike all my heavy gear in and set up a camp, then compress to day-pack mode for the following days hunts. If I had any complaints at all, it would be that its a little tough to access pockets in daypack mode, and some of my daily gear doesnt fit too well in the pack-tubes. Still, excellent pack if you want a backcountry/multiday, daypack, and meat hauler all in one.

Nice Pack February 3, 2012
Reviewer: Kevin Gladhill from Boonsboro, MD United States
Only 2 complaints which may just be user preferences, The pack should come with the zip in liner, the whole purpose of this pack is to expand and then shrink. Add $20 to the pack cost and include the liner. The pack needs some sewn in small pockets for organization, the large pockets are nice but it is also nice to have small compartments to organize the gear.

As far as S&S Arhcery everything went smooth.
